In chemistry, performance, also referred to as chemical yield and reaction yield is the amount of product produced in a chemical reaction. [1] The absolute performance can be given as the mass in grams or in moles (molar yield). The fractional yield or relative yield or percent yield, used to measure the effectiveness of a synthetic process, is calculated by dividing the number of moles product obtained by the theoretical yield in moles:. One or more reagents in a chemical reaction often overused. The theoretical yield is calculated based on the molar amount of limiting reagent, taking into account the stoichiometry of the reaction. For the calculation, it is usually assumed that there is one reaction involved. The theoretical or ideal of a chemical reaction should be 100%, a value that is impossible to achieve in most experimental stands. According to Vogel, yields approaching 100% are called quantitative yields above 90% are referred to excellent yields above 80% very good, over 70% are good, about 50% are regular, and under 40% are poor. [1] The yields seem to be over 100% when products are impure. Purification steps always lower the yield and the reported yields usually refer to the purified final product performance. ? ab Vogel, AI, Tatchell, AR, Furnis, BS, Hannaford, AJ and PWG Smith.
