Implementing this movement, new products from innovative processes occur in our daily lives, they use carbon dioxide or supercritical water, ultrafiltration membranes and nanofiltration, refrigerants, a new kind of cell fuel, decontamination foams . . Stéphane Sarrade is a researcher at Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in the field of green chemistry (supercritical fluids and membrane filtration). He is Chairman of the French Club of Membranes (CFM) and the Association Supercritical Fluid Innovation (IFS). Everyone remembers what it was 11 September 2001 when the echoes and images of the disaster of the Twin Towers in New York have survived. At this same title a few days later, on September 21, I remember exactly what I was doing. The weather was beautiful. I chaired a thesis at the Ecole des Mines d'Albi-Carmaux. The student, Martial Sauceau, came to support his brilliant paper on supercritical fluids and, as usual, in the late morning the jury had retired to deliberate. In the midst of deliberation, a person sent by the school principal rushed into the room and we communicated three information alarming. The jury was composed primarily of chemists, in addition Toulouse. Speculation began to rain: how plant had exploded? SNPE? ESSO? Great Parish? A toxic cloud? Phosgene? Parents worried a child with the nanny or a schoolboy in his establishment downtown. All phone lines were unavailable and the traffic lanes to enter Toulouse were cut. After the rise of the industrial revolution, 44 industrial accidents of any kind were reported worldwide. Between 1905 and 1944, 17,000 deaths were caused by these accidents, and many were linked to a new cause: explosions factory. These mills used chemical explosive, possibly in pressurized systems, placed in urban or suburban areas. This was the price of industrial growth in Western countries, and unfortunately this situation continues to exist in emerging markets such as China or India. . .
